Some Problems Of Hair Fall In Women

by admin Leave a Comment

Most people around the world are facing the problem of hair loss. Hair loss has become a big problem for both men and women but it affects the confidence of women more than the men. In some people the hair loss is so much that it leads to baldness.

Hairs are more important for women because it increases their beauty and makes them look gorgeous. Hair loss and baldness in women can lead to decrease of self esteem. There are many causes of hair fall which you will find out by further reading this article.

In men the most primary cause of hair loss is genetics but in women this is not the major cause. In women the hair loss is related to metabolic problems like pregnancy, thyroid hormone deficiency, stress, chemotherapy, crash diets/anorexia, high fever or severe infection, major surgery etc.

The good news is that the hair loss occurring because of above mentioned factors is normally temporary. If you are facing any of the above mentioned problems, then the best thing is to be patient and take the necessary precautions from the starting. Don’t panic and take a diet rich in vitamins, proteins and minerals.

In females the pattern of hair loss is completely different from males. In males, baldness is very common but in females it is rarely seen. The most common pattern of hair loss seen in females is thinning of hairs and reduction in diameter of hair shaft, present around the forehead and crown of scalp.

This pattern is found mostly in women’s of forty years of age. It can also occur in females whose menopause has just begun. According to a research, there are about 13 percent of females who are experiencing hair loss before menopause. There are about 37 percent of females facing this problem after menopause.

DHT is a hormone which can cause hair loss both in males and females. In females, a hormone called estrogen is secreted in greater quantities which block the steroid hormone pre menopause. This blockage of hormone results in low levels of DHT and thus less hair fall.

Estrogen is secreted in great amounts only before menopause. After menopause, the level of estrogen decreases leading to a rise in level of DHT. The increased level of DHT causes hair problems.

After menopause the most commonly occurring problems of hair include: thinning of hair, decrease in growth of hair and general effluvium. The hair follicles shrink and the hair growth stops completely when a female reaches 80 years of age.

In most females, the problem of hair loss occurs because of decrease in level of estrogen in the body after menopause. Estrogen opposes the action of androgens and it also makes cell resistive to the effect of androgens by blocking the androgen receptors. As levels of estrogen start to fall at the onset of menopause, its inhibitory effect on androgen is lost. Therefore greater amounts of androgen are available to the hair follicle and stem cells which is converted to DHT.

Major Causes of Hair Loss in Female

The most common problem causing hair loss in females is Androgenetic alopecia inherited. This is also very common in males. Androgenic alopecia causes thinning of hairs and it also causes reduction in total number of hairs on head. When you start noticing any signs of hair fall, it’s better to seek medical help at that time rather than waiting till the end when no hairs are left on the head. Other causes of hair fall are given below.

1. Alopecia areata:

In this type there is patchy loss of hair from the scalp. The hair loss also occurs from other parts of the body which bear hair like eyebrows. This type of hair loss is autoimmune.

2. Traction alopecia:

It occurs because of continuous traction on hair follicles. It also occurs because of tightly tying or braiding the hairs. So it is important that you don’t tie your hair very tightly otherwise it can lead to hair fall.

3. Trichtotillomania:

This type of hair loss occurs because of stress and depression. It can also occur because of a psychological disorder.

4. Telogen effluvium:

It occurs because of drugs, poor nutrition and stress. People who don’t take a balance diet can face this problem especially people who don’t take enough quantities of vitamins, minerals and proteins.

5. Loose anagen syndrome-:

In this disease bunch of hairs starts to fall. It occurs while combing, shampooing etc. The density of hairs on the head decreases. The scalp hairs come out easily and this disease is most common in fair haired ladies.

6. Triangular alopecia:

In this disease the hair fall occurs around the temples.

7. Scarring alopecia:

In this disease the hair loss occurs because of a physical trauma. Traction alopecia can also cause this disease.

In market many hair loss products are available. Hair loss can be prevented or it can be reduced if you take some necessary precautions like:

a. Eat a balance diet. A diet rich in vitamins, proteins and minerals is very good for hairs.

b. Don’t tie your hair very tightly.

c. Wash your hairs at least twice a week.

d. It is better to prevent your hairs from excessive exposure to heat, dust and sunlight.

e. Use a good shampoo for washing hairs.

f. Oiling is very good for hairs.

g. Take good care of your hairs.

If you start noticing hair fall, then it is better to seek medical help. In this modern world many medical procedures are available which helps to reduce hair fall and causes growth of hair. Hair loss products are also useful to stop the hair fall. If hair fall is so much that it leads to baldness than the only option available is hair transplant.

Hair transplant is a surgical procedure which causes the growth of new hair follicles and thus new hairs. Hair transplant is a very expensive procedure and is not always affordable by everyone.
